Offer our skills as services to fund a dream to provide Agritherapy to those who would benefit.

We will share our journey and educate along the way as we establish our homestead to achieve this goal to support our community.

Our Goal

Meet Our Family.

Tyler and Kira with their daughters Robin, Norah, and Guinevere.

It all began when they met in 2010, Tyler was an active-duty Marine stationed near Kira’s hometown. They spoke of a future where they would raise children somewhere they could run and be free. Both had grown up with land to climb trees, ride ATVs, and play in the mud. Neither grew up gardening or farming, but Tyler did gain experience getting horses under saddle in his teen years.

Not long after, Tyler was medically discharged from what was supposed to be a lifelong career in the US Marine Corps. This led them to move to the DC area to live in apartment and suburban lifestyles, but the desire to raise their family with open space was the goal. The dream came true when they moved to their 5 acre property in Round Hill, Va. on their oldest daughter’s first birthday. 1.5 years later they were blessed to have twin girls!

Using any and all skills we can to fund our dreams as we establish our homestead, we hope to offer a variety of services to help us reach our eventual goals of offering “Agritherapy.”

Others Before Self

Tyler and Kira both enjoy blessing others in any way possible, using the phrase “others before self” to guide many decisions. They find that informing others about their passions, and showing them how it’s helped them through darker times has blossomed a new goal together.

The dream is to provide Agritherapy either as, or with, a nonprofit organization. Currently building up and establishing the homestead while offering any skills, services, or goods as an LLC is how we will fund this dream of helping others benefit from what we are growing here!

Agritherapy Defined:

The use of small scale farming (livestock or horticulture) management with social services combined to improve the physical and mental health and wellbeing of those who could benefit.

Kira had always wanted to garden, and started and failed many as a child in her back yard. Struggling with post-partum depression during the beginning of the pandemic she finally set her mind to garden and fell in love with its therapeutic abilities.

She began to share her journey, both in gardening and as a mom, on social media and fell in love with digital media marketing in the process too. She has logo design experience, and enjoys creating “social curating” plans and content for small businesses.

Tyler, who has struggled with anxiety and depression after being given the title of “Disabled Veteran,” rediscovered his old passion of working with horses by training many thoroughbreds of various backgrounds. In this he understood why horse therapy exists; finding it a healing process. Tyler has occasionally worked on-site with Scott Purdum, a trainer who specializes in Off-Track Thoroughbreds and “problem” horses, to assist with some of Scott’s most “troubled” horses.

All while excelling in his IT career, Tyler is a jack of all trades from computer repair to cybersecurity consulting. He also can do many odd jobs from small engine repair to building a raised garden bed!

Our Ambassadors.

After moving to Round Hill we learned our neighbors had Off-Track Thoroughbreds that were rescues. We began working with their horses soon after, and over time Tyler developed a bond with Gin. The stars seemed to align so that we could bring her home to be a part of our family, and our became first horse.

Gin

We then began to search for a companion that would be just the right fit for Gin’s personality, but also be a bit of a project for Tyler, while still being a safe fit for our family. We found Brandy at Gentle Giants Draft Horse Rescue in MD. We were immediately in love and knew she would be a great companion. We adopted Brandy, a Percheron-Cross, and she has been just the perfect fit here!
